Hi Tanja’s class:
Rich has an extensive medical kit on board Great American IV that includes supplies to treat wounds, burns, infections, sea sickness and pain. We can’t pack a lot of medications into the kit, so we select medications that can serve more than one purpose (a few antibiotics can treat infections in different places of the body). Of course, Rich has a full supply of all of his asthma medications, which are very standard for him. Fortunately, once Rich is at sea for a few days, he rarely needs any sea sickness medication. On his last Vendée Globe voyage, Rich used his supplies to treat a laceration to his face and medications to help with the pain of several rib fractures.
