Dear Thanos: Regarding physical training, I start with the general fitness goal, which includes biking, swimming, some running up hills, and then add gym training with my trainer Marti Shea, who was an All-American distance runner before becoming a World Champion cyclist (time trial). With Marti we focused on balance and core strength, plus a real target of leg strength. On the boat, I know that my upper body will get stronger and stronger because of all the pulling and grinding on winches, but my legs will atrophy since they are not getting exercise. So in order to have any strength left at the end of the race, they must be super strong at the start.
